great big world out there

...for a mantis.

This little guy lived in our garden for a few days, staking out our woodpile as his hunting grounds for a bit. I took a bunch of pictures of him over the course of those few days, and am putting up the ones that turned out the nicest.

You can't see his face in this one (and his eyes would follow you if you got the camera up in his face), but I liked how he seemed to be overlooking the rest of the garden.
